Introduction to Autism for counsellors

March 2017.

Feedback from this day would suggest this was another successful training day:

“I found the training insightful and thought provoking.”

“The role play really enriched my learning..I found this invaluable as it brought the subject to life.
I look forward to attending more of your courses in the future.”

“I found the CPD course on autism to be hugely informative and beneficial to me on a professional and a personal level.  The passion and knowledge that you all brought to the subject was invaluable.  I also found that the role play towards the end of the day really brought the day of learning to life.”

“Thank you to all of you for a very good day.  I got a lot out of it and particularly appreciated your collective personal and professional experience.  The role-play was outstanding ….!”

Two more therapy rooms

One of our new rooms. We’ve expanded our Stony practice, which now means we have a total of 7 therapy rooms! We’ve also introduced a new booking system for room hire. Interested in booking one of our rooms? www.roomstotalk.uk Contact Angela on 07790 484 016 to find out more or email angela@roomstotalk.uk

We are expanding!

Our current compliment of 5 counselling room have been under pressure recently. We are regularly offering more than 30 counselling sessions a day and we have become worried that counsellors could not book a room when they wanted to.

Out landlord has agreed that we can take over another part the building which we are converting to a new counselling room and an office and ‘time-out’ room for counsellors. Our existing office will become another counselling room, making the total 7.

The work to convert the rooms is well underway, new phone and broad band lines are ordered and we are currently choosing new furniture.

Autism presentation at local Cruse

After our Clinical Director Allan facilitated a discussion on Autism at a local Cruse group we got this feedback.
“Listeners felt it was very informative and easy to understand, targeted well to the audience. Humorous, informal, encouraging with excellent ideas on how to work with Asperger’s and Autism, thereby giving a better understanding of how it must feel like to be on the Autism spectrum”.

Thanks for your encouraging words Cruse and keep up your good work.

Couples Counselling Update

May Bank Holiday is an excellent day to do a bit of spring cleaning and updating of my personal Person-centred website (www.allanturner.co.uk) and in particular include a section about a book published by a fellow Person-centred Couples Counsellor and old friend, Charles O’Leary from Colorado, USA. Client feedback

Another client just finished, leaving feedback: “I phoned in rather a messed up unhappy state and was talked to in a lovely manner. I saw the counsellor within a few days and only needed 3 sessions. They listened to my problems, with no judgement just guidance and to open up my thoughts to my own reactions. Great service and help”.

Another successful couples course ends

We have just completed our 24th couples counselling training course. Every course is unique with the participants themselves setting the tone and pace of the training – this is the Person-centred way. We started running these 6 days courses in Stirling back in 2007. Since then we have trained literally hundreds of counsellors to undertake the demanding working of offering counselling  to couples.
